Elgin Cooperative Ministry

CHEF recently became a member of The Elgin Cooperative Ministry, which exists to bolster whole-life stability for our neighbors by advocating for their nourishment, health, and success. ECM is a network of nonprofit organizations and faith communities in Elgin, IL, who work together to support efforts that "nourish our neighbors." Recently Chef Douglas Callegario and other members of CHEF volunteered to cook just one dinner for an ECM member church. We learned a lot about how much work it is for the serval churches that provide daily meals for the less fortunate in our community. Chef Ryan Waesche has been also cooking for ECM since before he became a Director of CHEF and he was able to “witness” the need in our community. Some of ECM volunteers have been doing this for more than 30 years. CHEF is also a partner with ECM and the Gail Borden Public Library to offer the 3rd Annual Hunger Summit held on September 19, 2019 at the library.
